Sometimes that means partnering directly with one leader. Sometimes it means working alongside an organization in the middle of change — a team that’s been restructured, a function that’s being built or redefined, or a moment when trust has to come back before strategy can be realized.
Strategy with roots.
The Maroons taught me my first lesson in health systems: care doesn’t begin with institutions. It begins with people who choose to show up for one another.
My practice is named after the Maroons of my family’s home country, Jamaica — communities built on resourcefulness and the confidence to chart their own course without asking permission. Their most celebrated leader, Nanny of the Maroons, united scattered communities and led with such skill that the British Empire ultimately negotiated a lasting peace with her people. Today, she remains Jamaica’s only female National Hero.
In my family, her story was never simply history. It was how we understood leadership: build what doesn’t exist. Create order where others see obstacles. And never build alone.
